The Tutor/Mentor Connection believes that a web site can be a text book and a library, as well as a place to meet, learn and collaborate. We've organized this site to help visitors find information to help them operate a tutor/mentor program, or to build a network of support for one or more tutor/mentor programs in a city or geographic area. This site is for business and foundation leaders, media, political and faith leaders, as well as educators, tutors, mentors, and tutor/mentor program leaders. We're constantly looking for ways to help you find and use this information. We rely almost totally on volunteers to do this work. You don't need to be in Chicago to help maintain and facilitate understanding of the information on this site.
The T/MC's goal is to make information available whenever any one is looking for it. This promotes learning. It helps facilitate trainers. The T/MC hosts a conference every six months to encourage networking and the sharing of these ideas. The T/MC also offers Training Workshops at the Cabrini Connections Center, 800 W. Huron, Chicago, Il, on a regular basis. The May 2005 and May 2006 Tutor/Mentor Leadership Conferences were co sponsored by the Children & Family Justice Center and held at the Northwestern University Law School in Chicago. During the May and November conferences, the T/MC is co-hosting a series of Internet-based Tutor/ Mentor eConferences , which will connect those who attend the conference with tutor/mentor leaders from around the world via the Internet. If you'd like to be involved in the conferences or eConferences as a speaker, sponsor or advertiser, learn more, at http://www.tutormentorconference.bigstep.com Visit the Tutor/Mentor Institute. This section of the T/MC Internet library is filled with short Power Point presentations that we feel will help any visitor better understand some of the Tutor/Mentor Connection concepts. We hope you'll view these and use them in your own work, or to draw more support to the T/MC's work.
