Subject: College Tuitition program
Black Male Teachers
Do you know any Black males who are seniors in high school who want to go to college out of state for 'FREE' ? Several Black Colleges are looking for future black male teachers and will send them to universities/colleges for 4 years FREE.
The 'Call Me MISTER' program is an effort to address the critical shortage of African American male teachers particularly among South Carolina 's lowest performing public schools. Program participants are selected from among under-served, socio-economically disadvantaged and educationally at-risk communities.
The program is a collaboration between Clemson University and four historically black colleges in South Carolina : Benedict College , Claflin University , Morris College and South Carolina State University .
The project provides:
Tuition for admitted students pursuing approved programs of study at participating colleges. An academic support system to help assure their success. A cohort system for social and cultural support.
Visit << http://www.callmemister.clemson.edu/index.htm> for more details and the online application or call (800) 640-2657.

| It Takes Guts To Handle Today's Hot Issues |
|
Consider this: anyone can feed the poor - how about reducing poverty in the first place?
The hard things - things like ending poverty, reducing violence, building affordable housing, providing healthcare, fighting discrimination, winning peace and meeting urgent needs - are what Community Shares of Illinois does every day in communities like yours across the state of Illinois through our 82 member groups. We're tackling and solving issues at the roots, rather than just treating the symptoms.
Our statewide members produce measurable impact in their communities by creatively solving problems at the core. This work is often called social change. This is the type of change that has staying power--its impact affects lives for generations to come.
Like to help us take a bite out of the hot issue that's close to your heart? Then consider a volunteer opportunity with one of our member organizations. If extra time is a problem but not a few extra dollars, consider makng a donation.
Join us in this gutsy work. You'll like the taste of change.

We cordially invite you and your colleagues to attend, participate in, and possibly present at the first annual University of New Mexico Mentoring Conference, October 22-24, 2008, in Albuquerque, NM. The conference theme is Fostering a Mentoring Culture in the 21st Century: Bringing Best Practices and Research to Higher Education. The keynote speaker will be Dr. W.
