The Tutor/Mentor Connection (T/MC) operates from a simple premise. Each day we say "What can we do today to help every program in Chicago be more successful? What can we do to build a better operating system?"

Then we put these thoughts into action, starting with small steps and working continuously to improve each effort. We also put them on this and other web sites (see below), so that others who have the same concern can work with us, or learn from us, to build a better program-, volunter-, and youth-support system that can be used at any time, by any stakeholder.

The Tutor/Mentor Connection (T/MC) was formed in 1993 by Cabrini Connections as part of its own on-going efforts to build a successful tutor/ mentor program by learning from the best work being done anywhere in the country. The T/MC's leaders recognized that this information could not only help one program improve, it could help any program improve if there was a networking and information sharing communications system. Because no organization was filling that role, Cabrini Connections committed one-half of its energy and revenue to doing so. In the past 11 years, the T/MC was recognized in many ways for its leadership and service. In 1997 it was honored to set up a display at the Presidents' Summit for America's Future. In 2001, T/MC President Daniel F. Bassill, was appointed a Commissioner for the Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.
