Spend a few minutes touring the new interactive maps in the Chicago Tutor/Mentor Program Locator. This is an example of maps we're creating and posting in the Map Gallery on the Program Locator site. With the interactive map you can zoom in to any part of the city, add layers of information showing where tutor/mentor programs are most needed (such as poverty, poorly performing schools), and information that shows what organizations might already be in that area who you could support as a volunteer and donor.
Depending on your internet connection and browser this will work more quickly for some people than for others. However, if you give it time you'll find it is a powerful tool to help draw together public and private sector resources to help kids in every poverty area of the city get the support of volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs. Email us if you have questions or would like us to walk you through the site. tutormentor2@earthlink.net |
