Volunteering
It takes a village to raise a child.
Volunteers are needed who will use their talent to help build strong tutor/mentor programs. Not everyone can be a one-on-one tutor/mentor and not everyone can be a high powered fund raiser. However non profits have the same functional responsibilities of for profit businesses. Since dollars are so scarce to hire professional staff, volunteers are needed to play important roles in these organizations.
Call us (312-492-9614) or email (
tutormentor2@earthlink.net
) if you are interested in helping the Tutor/Mentor Connection on one or more of the project areas described in this article.
. This list is organized alphabetically. Volunteers can serve on more than one committee and can also be one-on-one tutors/mentors in Cabrini Connections or any other tutor/mentor program in Chicago or another city at the same time as they volunteer with the T/MC.

Volunteering
Help Spread the Word!
As school starts each fall, hundreds of volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs in Chicago and in other cities are looking for volunteers. Since we don't have advertising dollars to attract volunteers to individual programs, we're looking for individuals and organizations to get involved with this movement as leaders and advocates who will help us connect thousands of others with individual tutor/mentor programs in Chicago and in other major cities.

VOLUNTEER WITH TUTOR/MENTOR CONNECTION!
By nsbyrer @ 4:51 PM :: 3863 Views ::
Volunteers are the engine that powers the Tutor/Mentor Connection, Cabrini Connections and hundreds of other tutor/mentor programs.
They serve as tutors and mentors, leaders, and provide the tech support for hosting web sites like this. Here's a letter from one volunteer showing why she supports Cabrini Connections.
Note:
Volunteers like Julie are part of many Tutor/Mentor Programs in Chicago and in other cities. In the Discussion Forum we've set up a section for Volunteers to talk to each other and to share their own experiences about how participation in a tutor/mentor programs has helped change their life, and the life of a child.
Please contribute stories to this forum, and provide the name and address of the tutor/mentor program where you volunteer.

Volunteering
Engaging youth in service and citizenship is as important to America as teaching youth to read and write.
Read the new (2005) American Youth Policy Forum Study, titled Restoring the Balance Between Academics and Civic Engagement in Public Schools, available at
http://www.aypf.org
Note:
Add your own web site links to the Links Library and join in discussions that help create the resources needed to duplicate good ideas in more places....and to keep good programs funded in the locations where they already operate!
