SPRINGFIELD (November 19, 2002) - Illinois Afterschool Task Force Recommendations.

SPRINGFIELD (November 19, 2002) Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) Secretary Linda Rene? Baker and State School Superintendent Robert E. Schiller today released a report from the Illinois After-school Task Force. The report outlines the existing after-school programs in Illinois and makes recommendations for the future. "More than one million school-age children in Illinois live in families where the sole parent or both parents work, and we know that out-of-school time is when youth are most likely to get into trouble," said DHS Secretary Linda Rene? Baker. "So, I commend the General Assembly and the task force members for making the after-school issue a top priority in our state."To view the report go to: http://www.isbe.net/board/meetings/sept02meeting/afterschoolcover.pdf
