The purpose of the Tutor/Mentor Connection, and this web site, is to help high quality, volunteer-based tutoring, mentoring and learning programs grow in all poverty areas of the Chicago region, and in other cities.
The primary strategy has been to build and maintain a database of existing programs, and a on-going public awareness campaign that draw volunteers and donors directly to the web sites of individual programs, where they use the information provided to learn what the organization does, and to decide how to provide on-going support.
Since 2008 an interactive Program Locator has served this purpose, along with a list of programs hosted on this web site. However, since 2011 the interactive map has not been updated and is now working inconsistently, due to lack of funding/talent to do the updating.
Therefore, I've created a new map showing locations of Chicago tutor/mentor programs. See it here.
If you're not in Chicago you can use this link to find directories of youth serving programs in other cities. You can also duplicate what the Tutor/Mentor Connection has been trying to do in Chicago. I invite you to email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss ways I can help you.
