Tutoring and Mentoring mean different things to different people. The Internet contains a wealth of resources for anyone to use for learning, teaching, tutoring and/or mentoring.

Tutoring and Mentoring mean different things to different people. They also have different meanings that change based on the social/economic environment of the children and youth who receive tutoring and/or mentoring. The T/MC created a power point essay, titled Defining Terms, to try to show the various forms of tutoring/mentoring needed by kids living in high poverty, inner-city areas.

We feel each of these categories is important, however each needs advocates who focus on making sure each type of tutoring/mentoring is available to as many youth as possible. We focus primarily on volunteer-based tutoring/mentoring and use maps and searchable databases to help potential volunteers, donors and business partners connect with youth living in poverty.

Furthermore, we encourage those who join the on-line forums on this web site will focus on the type of mentoring and tutoring programs that are needed by children living in neighborhoods of  high poverty, and without a diverse base of economic role models who can build student aspirations for jobs and careers beyond some of the negative economic models that are common in inner city neighborhoods.

However, the LINKS library has resources to support any type of tutoring/mentoring, for youth in any social/economic environment. Visit the Training section to view links that provide information on mentoring, or show how to start a tutor/mentor program. Please add your rating and comment so future visitors will choose to visit sites based on feedback you and others provide.

Note: If you know of other learning, tutoring or mentoring web sites that are a useful resource, please submit the link to add to the library.
