INFO is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal, since 2000. The Nepalese founders mission was to develop a challenging volunteer program that would benefit both the volunteers and the communities of Nepal. To date, INFO has trained and deployed over 275 volunteers from 33 countries around the world to placements throughout Nepal .Of these volunteers, 16 have returned for a 2nd placement, and 2 for a third. INFO Nepal ALWAYS works in partnership with the local communities, mobilising and assisting with joint projects e.g. The Libraries, Health Camps, Environmental and Informal Education Programmes, INFO Nepal was responsible for activating emergency relief campaigns for the victims of the Rapati river flooding in 2002. INFO Objectives - To increase awareness of the need for English language and English literacy for Nepali students and school-leavers - To educate and work with communities regarding environmental issues - To provide training for the community youth in creating opportunities for self-employment - To provide language lessons and cultural information for people who come to Nepal to study, conduct research, and do voluntary work - To introduce volunteers to the richness of Nepali culture and ensure a safe and memorable stay in a supportive environment - To provide Sponsored Education for children from very poor families. - To assist with staffing of village Health Centres - To provide basic hygiene skills to the Bote and Tharu Tribes, the poorest people of Nepal - To assist with staffing Orphanages
