Math Out of the Box™ is a K-5 mathematics curriculum which is under development in the College of Engineering and Science at Clemson University and is published by Carolina Biological Supply Company. Math Out of the Box™ is research and standards based. The name derives from the packaging of Math Out of the Box™ in “kits” that contain all the materials teachers will need to teach this inquiry-based curriculum and from the idea that those using this innovative curriculum will be “thinking outside the box” of traditional instructional approaches in mathematics. The curriculum is designed to be released in four vertical strands in the following order: Developing Algebraic Thinking, Developing Geometric Logic, Developing Measurement Benchmarks, and Developing Number Concepts.
