I learned about a new link count aggregator yesterday called Socialmeter, pointed out by Valdis Krebs on his blog Networking Weaving. It's petty straight forward, scanning a number of search engine and social bookmarking sites, in order to aggregate the count of inbound links for a given site. We can think of these links as "votes" in terms of popularity. I've thought the following metrics to be helpful for evaluating website value: - # unique visitors per day/week/month - # return visitors per day/week/month - time spent on website (or webpage) - # feed subscribers It seems like link counts is another useful metric to evaluate a website's value. Technorati has done this for some time now, but for blogs, and my understanding is that the given blog would have to be registered on Technorati.
