Aura's House was launched in June 2004 by an Art Professor in New Jersey and her web design students. To date this online project has raised over $12,000 to build and furnish homes for needy families in Guatemala and Honduras. Our latest project is to raise $1850 to construct a well in the Indian Village of Khordanahala. To get safe water, residents currently have to make a half-mile trek to a well that is often broken down, which leaves them no choice but to use water from a contaminated pond for drinking, cooking, and washing. This leaves many of the most vulnerable in the village- babies, small children, and the elderly at risk for stomach-related illnesses and even potential death. The new well will be built in a better location with modern technology to facilitate the drawing of clean water for local families. We are also running a new ongoing project which helps send Zambian children to school for a year: $30 pays for their uniform, books and all school supplies. Without these items, children are not allowed to attend the free public schools. Since $30 is more than most Zambian families make in a month, many children are left without even a basic primary school education. Please visit http://www.aurashouse.com for more details. Photos of the people whose lives you?ll be changing are at the site. All donations are 100% US Tax Deductible.
