From the web site: "JustServe.org is a website where the volunteer needs of organizations may be posted and volunteers may search for places to serve in the community.
JustServe provides opportunities to relieve suffering, care for the poor and needy, and enhance the quality of life in the community. JustServe is not for proselytizing or publicity—it is simply a service to help link community volunteer needs with volunteers.
Neither The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints nor its website JustServe.org discriminates based on race, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation to screen projects for posting or volunteers who may sign up to serve."

A Map Based Chicago Tutor/Mentor Program Locator
This is a pilot version (created in 2008) of a map based Chicago Tutor/Mentor Directory showing the entire Chicago region and non-school, site based, programs . The map has layers of information showing where programs are most needed, based on poverty rates, locations of poorly performing schools, incidents of violence. It also has overlays of assets (business, colleges, faith groups, hospitals, etc.) who could be helping programs grow in areas where they are located. Due to lack of funding and tech support the site has not been updated since 2013 and the census data and political boundaries have not been updated since 2009. However the site still serves as a model that can be used in any city, including Chicago. The Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC seeks partners to update and further develop this interactive directory and to make it available in other cities.

You can also use this map to build collaborations among businesses, non profits, faith groups and other institutions and leaders who focus on the same parts of the Chicago region.
Note: This Chicago Tutor/Mentor Program Locator was developed between 2004 and 2008 as part of the Tutor/Mentor Connection's effort to draw volunteers and donors to tutor/mentor programs in every poverty neighborhood of the city. Due to lack of funds the site has not been updated since 2013. It still serves as a model, and you can still create map stories to focus on neighborhoods. If you'd like to help with updating with a goal of applying this in your own city, use the 'contact us' feature on this site to introduce yourself.
