    2010 Summer Institute on Youth Mentoring

    Portland StateUniversity

    July 26-30, 2010

    PortlandState University announces the 2010 Summer Institute on Youth Mentoring, a special educational opportunity for experienced mentoring professionals. Participants attend an intensive week-long seminar presenting the latest developments in theory and research on youth mentoring led by nationally recognized research fellows. The aim is a series of highly interactive discussions that provide an in-depth view of the research and examine its implications for program policies and practices. Ideal participants have several years of experience in the field of youth development and are seeking an advanced professional development opportunity. As a general theme, the 2010 Institute will explore the influence of technology on mentoring relationships and mentoring programs.

    Research fellows for 2010 include:

    • Michael Karcher of University of Texas-San Antonio,
    • Susan Murphy of James Madison University,
    • Kevin O’Neill of Simon Fraser University (Canada),
    • Jean Rhodes of University of Massachusetts-Boston,
    • Carmit-Noa Shpigelman of Western Galilee College (Israel),
    • and Peg Boyle Single, Independent Research and Consultation
