November 11, 2008, 6:30 - 8:30PM
How can mentors be more effective at communicating with mentees from different cultural backgrounds?  In this interactive workshop, mentors will examine various communication styles that are often related to cultural customs, and they will gain skills on how to more effectively communicate across cultural differences.   There will also be a short video that demonstrates how people with varied backgrounds are treated differently, followed up by a discussion about the social and economic consequences of this treatment.  The workshop takes place in the UW-Parkside Tallent Hall Orchard Room and will be led by UW-Parkside's Center for Community Partnership's Community Dialogues Director Roseann Mason.  The event is free and open to the public; snacks will be provided and donations are welcome.  To register, please contact Felicia Stallworth at (262) 595-2312 or felicia.stallworth@uwp.edu. For additional information please visit http://www.uwp.edu/departments/community.partnerships/Events.cfm
