This is message from Mike Trakan, producer of the Aug. 29 Tutor/Mentor Jam Concert.
Thanks for your support for Tutor/Mentor Jam this coming Sunday. This has been a labor of love that I've organized for a cause I truly believe in, with the help of several volunteers, and I hope you can make it out this weekend.
It looks like we're gonna have over 150 people at Darkroom Sunday... with media, business, and political leaders in attendance. It's exactly what we set out to do - bring people together to have some fun, listen to some great music, and maybe learn a little more about non-profit Tutor/Mentor Programs that support students in high-crime, high-poverty neighborhoods. We can help students stay on track today so they aren't our problem tomorrow.
Darkroom: 2210 W Chicago Ave (Chicago, IL)
* Sunday August 29 (this weekend!)
* 5pm doors & BBQ (til it runs out)... 6pm Show

I'm performing at 7:30pm or so
... with an amazingly talented 7-piece band and some cool new arrangements.
But again, doors open at 5pm, with complimentary BBQ (until it runs out, so get there early!)... 4 diverse bands, from rock to soul to hip-hop, will be taking the stage at 6pm. And don't miss Comic Joe, flying in from NYC to emcee the whole thing. There will be parents, volunteers, and radio personalities giving testimonials between acts too... incredible.
Do you have your ticket yet?For the next 3 days, tix are just $15 if you buy em in advance online (For a 5pm Sunday show, with a little food... and all that cool/fun stuff I mentioned above?!?! It's almost criminally cheap... and all going to the cause!
Buy em here.)
For you last-minute procrastinators, $20 at the door is still a helluva fine deal!
If you can't make it, well people are busy... totally understand... but
If you simply want to learn more about what's going on... and may or may not be interested yet...
1.
CHIRP Radio and Gaper's Block writer Aharona Ament will be attending the event. She published an
overview this week of why she and CHIRP are supporting the Jam:
2. The
interview I did with Mike Stephen of
Outside The Loop Radio, on
WLUW a couple weeks back, is still podcast

3. And how cool is this?
Former NU Quarterback Alexander Webb, who will be performing solo to kick off the Jam at 6pm Sunday, visited the
