On Jan 24 and 25, 2012 I attended the National Mentoring Summit in Washington, DC. Below is a list of resources that I learned about in the workshops I attended. Feel free to log in and add to this list based on your own experience at the Summit. Toolkit for recruiting Male Mentors: Mentor Michigan resource. This is an extensive resource with marketing messages, graphics, and many other tools that any organization can use to recruit more men to participate. Co-Developed with help of Winning Futures, which operates an innovative school-based mentoring strategy in the Detroit area. The Micah Initiative:a partnership program between churches, synagogues, mosques and other communities of faith in metropolitan Richmond and the Richmond Public Schools for the purpose of supporting the education and the nurture of the children of Richmond. The Virginia Mentoring Partnership was a key partner in helping this initiative grow, and has provided on-going training for staff and volunteers. This is a great model that could be duplicated in Chicago and other cities. The Christian Association of Youth Mentoringprovides training and on-going support to help mentoring programs form in faith based institutions around the country. Mount Ararat Community Activity Center Mentoring Program- Since 2002, MACAC, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Public Schools and the Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania, have been mentoring sixth through eighth grade students in the Eastern Region of Pittsburgh’s Public Middle Schools. Princeton Center for Leadership Training - this organization does a lot of work in the area of peer mentoring and student leadership. Indiana Youth Mentoring Partnership - visit their web site to learn more and connect. Since we operate in sister states there should be ways to collaboration. The Tutor/Mentor Connection web site was built in 2005 and is hosted by IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN Be Mentorsis a company sponsored initative that supports the growth of mentoring in the Science, Math, Engineering and Technology (STEM) fields.
