The Center for What Works is pleased to invite Youth Tutoring/Mentoring Program Leaders to participate in one of our performance measurement training sessions. Spots are still available for our webinar training session to be held on February 12th, and our face-to-face training session to be held on February 13th (seminar) in ShoreBank's Nonprofit Service Center in downtown Chicago.
In
this two-hour workshop, participants are given a short overview
of performance measurement, and then guided through the process of
attaching outcomes and indicators to their current strategies. Unlike
the more costly and time-intensive one-on-one organizational consulting
approach, the workshops serve as hands-on, practical sessions in which
participants will leave with a specific set of metrics they can begin
to actualize within their organization.
These training sessions are designed to
combine a variety of youth tutoring/mentoring organizations for the purpose of peer learning
among participants. Participants are encouraged to introduce their latest strategic plan,
theory of change, and/or logic model during the session.
Our
goal is to forge shared awareness throughout the social sector, widen
the buy-in for metrics, and heighten the capacity for performance
measurement, all in order to facilitate continuous improvement.
Who Should Attend: Nonprofit
executive directors, development staff and board members who seek to
strengthen their grasp and understanding of performance measurement,
specifically program outcomes and learn how a simple tool can
strengthen their organization.
Participant Benefits: Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of measurement in order to manage by results.
Specifically, they will gain:
- Examples from a researched set of particular, actionable, realistic, and timely outcomes and indicators to model for implementation in their organization
- An editable performance measurement tool and tips for its use
- Acquired knowledge of techniques to continuously improve their metrics
Our Method: We
create a peer-to-peer benchmarking opportunity with the understanding
that organizational participants have an enormous amount to learn from
each other. We introduce concepts and specific examples of outcomes and indicators to help participants grasp what to measure. Then, they are facilitated by our training structure to share their challenges, break-throughs, and results with their peers. Our
two-pronged approach involves participation in an overview seminar,
followed by a more in-depth series of web-based or face-to-face
workshops.
