I encourage you to read a post I wrote on my blog in Classroom 2.0

I've mapped stories that were in the Chicago SunTimes on June 29 and July 2. You can view the concept map here.

My goal is to inspire and support teams of students in high schools around the country, who will map their local media, and lead on-line discussions that turn negative news into positive actions that help kids living in poverty connect with a wide network of workplace adults in programs like Cabrini Connections.

If you lead a service learning project and would like to take on this role at your school, please form a group and begin to map local news stories. Post your web site here, and introduce your team to us. If you have questions or need help, post your questions here or email tutormentor2@earthlink.net

This strategy can have an immediate impact in drawing needed resources to tutor/mentor programs all over the country, while creating a more sophisticated understanding and lifelong involvement of youth who will be future leaders in coming years.
